IVY TECH-SOUTH BEND SCHEDULES INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM FOR SEPT. 21
 

SOUTH BEND, IND. (June 5, 2007) – Thomas Snyder, Ivy Tech Community College’s new president, will be the keynote speaker at Ivy Tech-South Bend’s Information Technology Symposium on Friday, Sept. 21.  The event is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Snyder will begin serving as Ivy Tech’s tenth president on July 1.  He served as the president of Delco Remy International, Inc. in Anderson, Indiana from 1994-2006 and is currently the Chairman of the Flagship Energy Systems Center (FESC) in Anderson.  During his 11 years with Delco Remy International, Inc. he established a new business model and diversified the company from a captive General Motors supplier to a global leader in truck, off road and aftermarket products, increasing the company in size from $500 million to over $1.3 billion in sales and worldwide employment from 1,500 to 6,000.

Ivy Tech-South Bend’s free symposium is designed for high school students, others who are interested in information technology careers and members of the local business community.  Participants in the full symposium will choose from a variety of breakout sessions which include topics on computer programming, computer hardware, computer networking, Web development, information technology security and Microsoft Office specialties.  Attendance is limited and advance registration is required.  For more information or to register, call Connie Miller at (574) 289-7001, ext. 5362 or email her at crmiller@ivytech.edu.
