Ivy Tech Community College and the Central Indiana Chapter of APICS (APICS-CIND), the Association for Operations Management, have entered a partnership to provide training for two globally recognized certifications. The partnership and training is designed to make readily available to Indiana companies the education and resources needed to improve productivity and competitiveness. Ivy Tech will offer training in both public open enrollment and custom classes across the state.

The first program, Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), educates operations professionals on essential terminology, concepts and strategies related to demand management; procurement and supplier planning; material requirements planning; capacity requirements planning; sales and operations planning; master scheduling; performance measurements; supplier relationship; quality control; and continuous improvement.

The second training program to be offered, Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), is a new industry recognized educational and certification program created to meet the rapidly changing needs of the supply chain management field.

“The partnership between APICS-CIND and Ivy Tech is a prime example of what Indiana institutions can do to support economic development efforts throughout our state,” said Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita, who played a role in bringing the parties together for this initiative.  “These educational and certification programs are the kinds of resources that help sustain existing businesses, attract new ones, and lead to the creation of good jobs for Hoosiers.”
