Ivy Tech Community College is the nation’s top recipient of charitable giving among community colleges
 

INDIANAPOLIS (February 23, 2007) – Ivy Tech Community College topped the nation’s community colleges in private charitable giving, according the results of The Council for Aid to Education annual survey.

Receiving $15,349,718 in 2006, Ivy Tech Foundation, the college’s charitable funding arm, reports that 38 percent of contributions were used for instructional equipment and technology and 10 percent for student financial aid. Contributions to the college stem from a variety of sources.  Five percent of the funding was contributed by employees and another 22 percent by individuals outside of the college. Planned and deferred gifts made up 11 percent of the 2006 gifts, foundations and organizations 40 percent and corporations 22 percent.

In addition to Ivy Tech, the top five community college recipients of charitable giving include Indian River Community College (Ft. Pierce, Fla.), Maricopa Community College District (Arizona), Santa Rosa Junior College (Santa Rosa, Calif.) and SUNY Westchester Community College (Valhalla, N. Y.).
