If you are a retired Hoosier age 60 or older, you may qualify for free tuition through the Senior Scholars program. Ivy Tech waives tuition for eligible seniors for a savings of over $200 per three-credit course. To qualify, you must be:
An Indiana resident
At least 60 years of age
A high school graduate or GED recipient
Retired from your primary vocation
Not employed full time
The Senior Scholars initiative covers Ivy Tech's full array of credit programs--more than 2,000 courses statewide in six academic schools.
You can also take distance education courses through the Senior Scholars program. Through the Indiana Partnership for Statewide Education, classes are delivered from one college or university campus to learning centers across Indiana, many of which are on Ivy Tech campuses.
The tuition waiver applies only to credit courses. Non-credit courses offered by the Workforce and Economic Development Division are not part of the program.Classes must be taken for a letter grade, and auditing is not permitted. In addition, some courses require a prerequisite, and certain courses may be taken only by students enrolled in specific degree programs.
While tuition is free, Senior Scholars are responsible for the $30 per semester technology fee as well as books, supplies and consumable materials fees as required by individual courses.
Enrolling is simple. You need to complete a certificate affirming that you qualify for the program and fill out appropriate course reservation forms. For more information, call the Ivy Tech admissions office nearest you.
