Chef Apprenticeship Program
The Chef Apprenticeship Program provides 6000 hours of hands-on cooking and work experience in every facet of the culinary arts under the guidance of a sponsoring chef. The three-year program of paid on-the-job experience progresses from basic to advanced subject matter augmented with 66 college credit hours of theoretical classes and application in Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana's new culinary arts lab.
Program Results. When you successfully complete the program, you'll be an American Culinary Federation (ACF) Certified Culinarian with an Associate Degree in Hospitality Administration/Culinary Arts. You'll be well on your way to a rewarding career.
Application Process. Begin today by following these steps:
- Complete the Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana admissions application process * Complete the ACF/South Bend apprenticeship program selection process
- Once accepted, you will be recommended for the interview and hiring process with a local restaurant or food service establishment
- Once hired, you will be registered with the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training and apply for junior membership in the ACF/South Bend.
The program is sponsored by the American Culinary Federation South Bend Professional Chefs and Cooks Association. The program is registered with the American Culinary Federation and the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training.
