If youre interested in pursuing a four-year degree in a liberal arts field such as English, social studies or psychology, you can start right here at Ivy Tech with our Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts degree program. Youll take a diverse mix of general education and liberal arts courses, including two foreign language courses and three or four courses in an area of concentration (history is currently offered, and others are planned). When you graduate, youll be prepared for continued postsecondary education or career advancement. All credits in the history concentration transfer to the bachelors degree in history program at IU South Bend.

Courses of studyThe Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts requires 20 courses in general education and liberal arts, including two foreign language courses and three to four courses in history or other area of concentration. The term "liberal arts" refers to courses in literature, philosophy, languages and history, as well as survey courses in the sciences.
Employment possibilitiesSkills acquired through liberal arts coursework are applicable to a number of employment settings. Individuals who are currently employed may seek to earn a degree for advancement within their job setting, or as a step toward earning a four-year degree.
