Then the Associate of Science (AS) in General Studies may be just right for you. This two-year programcomprised of courses broadly distributed among general education, liberal arts and career/technical coursesis designed as a flexible option for students who plan to transfer to IU South Bend or another four-year institution.

Program descriptionThe Associate of Science (AS) in General Studies is designed as a flexible option for students who plan to transfer to IU South Bend or another four-year institution. All credits in the program transfer to the bachelor's degree program in general studies at IU South Bend.
The AS in General Studies is appropriate for students: Planning to transfer into IUSB's baccalaureate program in general studies
Planning to transfer into other baccalaureate programs of study at IUSB or elsewhere
Uncertain of their major area of study who want to keep their options open while making progress toward a four-year degreeCourses of studyThe Associate of Science in General Studies requires 20 courses broadly distributed among the areas of language arts and communications, mathematics and science, and social sciences and humanities. Students also may elect introductory professional courses in program areas such as business, computers, visual communications and criminal justice to fulfill some of their requirements.Employment possibilitiesSkills acquired through general education coursework are applicable to a number of employment settings. Individuals who are currently employed may seek to earn a degree for advancement within their job setting, or as a step toward earning a four-year degree.
