Program descriptionThe Computer Information Systems curriculum provides the flexible, comprehensive training employers are seeking. Instruction includes both theoretical concepts and practical applications needed to enable graduates to excel in developing, operating and maintaining automated information systems. Students may specialize in areas such as Network (Windows, Cisco), PC Support, Programming/Analyst, Database Management and Web Management. An internship or co-op experience is included.
Program optionsOptions include Associate of Science (AS) and Associate of Applied Arts (AAS) degrees, Technical Certificate and Career Development Certificates. The AS degree program transfers into the bachelor's degree program in management information systems at Indiana State University. Both AS and AAS degree programs transfer into four-year programs at Bethel College, Ferris State University and elsewhere.

Employment outlookEmployment is expected to grow faster than average. Employment in Indiana for system analysts through 2008 is estimated to increase 85 percent; for computer support specialists, 75 percent; and for programmers, 23 percent. Demand for employees with computer and business skills is particularly high in small and medium-sized firms that create, transmit and control information by using computer technology as a management tool.
