Ivy Tech Community College, North Central Indiana
Elkhart Campus

Welcome to Elkhart!

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana began offering classes at Elkhart locations in 1987, moving later into a spacious building on Elkhart's southeast side made available to the College through the generosity of Mervin Lung, founder and now chairman emeritus of Patrick Industries in Elkhart.

Lung and his wife, Dorothy, also created a scholarship available to all Elkhart County residents taking classes through the Elkhart campus and not receiving other tuition assistance (Lung Scholarship) making college more affordable than you imagined.

In an effort to bring college courses as close as possible to the citizens it serves, the Elkhart campus also regularly offers evening classes at Goshen and NorthWood high schools along with 4 other convenient sites in the county.

The Elkhart campus serves over 2,500 students annually. Over 70 percent of students are female, 28 percent are minorities and more than 80 percent attend part-time, working while attending college. The median age of students served by the Elkhart campus is approximately 28. The Elkhart Campus prides itself on providing the flexibility, support and encouragement that traditional and nontraditional students need to achieve academic and career success while balancing work, school and family responsibilities.

We have expanded our selection of classes and programs to offer an Associate of Arts degree that is transferable to four-year colleges and universities. Combined with the affordability provided by the Lung Scholarship we are attracting more students of traditional college age. The campus looks for significant growth in the percentage of students it serves in the 18-24 age range group.
