Here's how the Guarantee works:
Conditions of the GuaranteeThe Guarantee applies to Associate Degree graduates enrolling for the first time in the Fall Semester, 1994, or later. The College Placement Office must certify that the employment is directly related to the graduate's field of study. The initial date of employment must be within one year of completing degree requirements. The employer must certify in writing that the graduate lacks the job-entry level skills identified in the job description at the time of initial employment and must notify the college CEO in writing of these deficiencies within 90 days of the graduate's initial employment or completion of degree requirements if the graduate is currently employed in a training related position. The college will evaluate the deficiency to determine whether the area of deficiency is part of the degree program curriculum. Attributes such as attitude, judgment and interpersonal relations will be considered technical job skills for purposes of the Guarantee if formal instruction in appropriate affective behaviors is included within the curriculum of the degree program. Skill retraining shall be limited to 12 credit hours and to enrollment in courses regularly offered by Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana Region 2.
The employer, the graduate and the college counselor, with the advice of the appropriate faculty, will develop an educational plan which specifies the course(s) necessary for retraining. The skill retraining shall be completed within two academic years. The withdrawal, audit or failure to complete a retraining course or courses applies to the 12 credit hour limit. Books, insurance, uniforms, laboratory and activity fees, and other course-related expenses are the responsibility of the graduate and/or the employer. For more information about how to take advantage of the Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana Associate Degree Graduate Guarantee, contact the Office of Placement Services or your academic advisor.
