SOUTH BEND, IND. (July 14, 2009) – Virginia Calvin, chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College-North Central, was one of nine Hoosiers recognized today for their accomplishments at the Indiana Black Expo, Inc. 39th Annual Summer Celebration (IBE) Governor’s Reception.
Award recipients were selected by the governor in collaboration with the Minority and Women’s Enterprises Division of the Indiana Department of Administration.
Calvin received a Governor’s Award for Achievement in Civic Leadership (military service, education and religion).
Ivy Tech Community College is the state’s largest public post-secondary institution and the nation’s largest singly-accredited statewide community college system with more than 130,000 students enrolled annually. Ivy Tech has campuses throughout Indiana.
