Sumner receives state academic honor
(February 13, 2007) -Heather Sumner, Business Administration major at Ivy Tech Community College Southern Indiana, received the Indiana Career and Technical Education Award for Excellence during a recent ceremony held in Indianapolis.
Sumner, a resident of New Albany, was one of eight students and three academic programs from Ivy Tech Community College recognized at the 23 nd Indiana Career and Technical Education Awards for Excellence ceremony held at the Indiana Government Center auditorium.
The Indiana Career and Technical Education Awards for Excellence programs, sponsored by the Indiana Commission for Career and Technical Education in cooperation with the Indiana Career and Technical Education Association, was established in 1984 to recognize students, programs, personnel services and active partnerships that contribute to superior careers and technical education in Indiana. Nominations are collected statewide and screened by a committee of technical educators and private sector leaders. The awards ceremony is held annually during National Career and Technical Education Week.
Ivy Tech Community College is the state's second largest public post-secondary institution with over 100,000 students enrolled annually. Ivy Tech has 23 campuses throughout Indiana. The Ivy Tech Southern Indiana campus is located in Sellersburg, Indiana with an enrollment of 3,750 students. |
