BUILDING
AND ACCELERATING LEADERSHIP SKILLS IN OUR COMMUNITY
What makes a great leader? There's no one right answer, but there
are a few qualities that all great leaders possess. They have a
passion for their work. They want to change lives and make their
communities stronger. They have boundless energy. And they never
stop learning.
This commitment to learning is the focus of the Center for Leadership
Excellence, a corporate and community leadership training program
presented by the Ivy Tech Community College Department of Workforce
and Economic Development.
The Center for Leadership Excellence brings together professionals
in a collaborative, innovative environment designed to develop future
leaders and improve the skills of those already in leadership positions.
The Center's six-month training program includes classroom instruction
and supplemental assignments geared towards each student's individual
needs and experience. Classes meet twice monthly for four hours,
and graduates are encouraged to stay connected to the Center through
quarterly follow up sessions.
Whether you are a professional seeking to improve your leadership
skills, or a manager looking for meaningful training for your employees,
the Center for Leadership Excellence can help you reach your goals.
The cost to enroll is just $2,500 per person, with discounts available
for groups from the same organization. To learn more, or to register,

LEARN THE SKILLS YOU NEED TO LEAD
The Center for Leadership Excellence offers a comprehensive course
of study that draws upon both new trends and longstanding principles
of leadership theory. Topics and teaching methods in the program
include:
Emergenetics
Emergenetics is a profiling instrument based on scientific research
that demonstrates how individuals’ genetic predispositions
for certain thoughts and actions can change as a result of social
and environmental factors. The combination of genetics and experiences
intertwine to form recognizable patterns that can be used to improve
communication and productivity, both key assets for any leader.
For additional information on Emergenetics visit their at www.emergenetics.com.
Emotional Intelligence
Participants will explore how to boost productivity, lead more effectively,
and enjoy more satisfying interpersonal relationships through emotional
competence. Personal competencies in self-awareness, self-management
and motivation will be evaluated to determine strengths and areas
for improvement.
HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (EQ) –TWICE
AS IMPORTANT AS (IQ) FOR SUCCESS AND LEARNABLE AT ANY AGE
The “Soft skills” often called people skills are now
recognized as the “Hard Skills.” Some of the latest
research on outstanding performance suggests the importance of building
emotional intelligence. Emotional Intelligence or “Emotional
Quotient-EQ competencies affect performance for jobs of all kinds.
They are twice as important as technical expertise and cognitive
abilities combined. For leadership positions, these skills account
for close to 90% of what distinguishes the most outstanding leaders
from average ones.
Daniel Goleman, author of the best seller Emotional Intelligence
states, “EI is recognizing and managing our own feelings and
those of others—the fundamentals upon which are built such
important organizational competencies as outstanding leadership,
customer service, and teamwork.” This 4 hour workshop is for
people who want to improve their Emotional Intelligence.
