Providing training and economic development services for business
and industry has been the top priority of Ivy Tech's Office of Workforce & Economic Development (WED) since its inception some
twenty years ago. WED is considered an Economic Development tool,
which assists in attracting new businesses to the area.
Additionally, WED works with existing
business and industry to promote and provide training programs
and services. Those services include workforce training, work profiling
and assessment, consulting, apprenticeship coordination, vendor
equipment training, and more. Local businesses appreciate the flexibility
and responsiveness provided by this office.
WED staff is available to consult with businesses regarding training
and continuing education needs of their employees. Through the College's
statewide network, WED is able to quickly respond to an employer's
just-in-time training needs. Employers value the responsive, high-quality,
effective training programs, which Ivy Tech provides on a regular
basis. In conjunction with local economic development offices, and
the state, Ivy Tech is actively involved in producing training services
that assist employers in gaining a competitive edge in today's marketplace.
The Connersville Center serves
as a hub for regional, state and national training opportunities.
Additionally, it provides a centralized location for companies to
import specialized equipment in order to expedite training to multiple
employees. Training can be provided on new equipment while on-site
production continues, uninterrupted. And new businesses can begin
training while finishing touches and tests are being performed on
equipment in a new facility, in order to move product out the door
on day one.
