- without leaving the workplace! WED (Ivy Tech's training office)
was created twenty years ago to serve the just-in-time training
needs of business and industry. Employers face an ongoing challenge
in keeping their employees' skills current and in remaining globally
competitive. Whether it's the latest computer applications upgrade,
training to operate new manufacturing or processing equipment, or
working to develop key interpersonal skills, the WED office works
on a project-by-project basis with each employer to meet their needs.
Training can be customized using client materials and equipment,
and can be delivered any day of the week, any hour of the day, to
suit the needs of the workplace. Demand for Ivy Tech's customized
training services has grown exponentially the past five years.
Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana’s Office
of Workforce & Economic Development (WED) can analyze the essential
skills required to perform a particular job. WED can profile
positions and give employers a better understanding of the skills
required to perform a job effectively. An employee taking an assessment
will identify how an employee’s skills match the job essential
skills. The assessment will also save time and money by pinpointing
training deficiencies. The profiling process assists businesses in
reducing employee turnover, reducing training and orientation time,
defining key employee skills and behaviors, identifying training
needs, evaluating employee performance and complying with legal
requirements of ADA and EEOC.
Ivy Tech also offers both formal and informal methods
of assessment, and works in conjunction with our own Workforce Certification
Center in order to help employers pre-screen prospective new hires.
