- The courses must have been completed at a regionally accredited post-secondary institution. The regional accrediting associations include: Middle States Association of Colleges & Schools, New England Association of Colleges & Schools, North Central Association of Colleges & Schools, Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges & Schools, and Western Association of Schools & Colleges.
- The course grade was “C-” or higher.
- Credit hours are equivalent to those of the Ivy Tech course. If evaluating courses taken on a quarter system, convert the credit hours to semester hours, (1 semester credit hour = 1.667 quarter credit hours).
- The course content, nature and level must be comparable to the Ivy Tech course. The student may be requested to provide a catalog, course descriptions and/or syllabi.
- Credits taken more than 10 years prior must be reviewed by the Chief Academic Officer if applied to a degree or certificate objective. This policy applies to credits accepted in transfer from another institution and to credits taken at Ivy Tech prior to declaring the new degree or certificate objective to which the credits may apply.
All students seeking transfer of college credit must be admitted into a program at Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana before an evaluation for transfer of credit is undertaken. All transfer students should have their official transcripts from all previously attended colleges forwarded directly to the Office of the Registrar no later than the end of the first term of enrollment. Transcripts issued to the student are considered unofficial and will not be accepted.
Accepted transfer credits will be listed on the unofficial academic transcript via Campus Connect. Click here for additional information.
