Ivy Tech Community College Receives National Accreditation
For Early Childhood Education Degree
The National Association for the Education of Young Children, Early Childhood Associate Degree Accreditation (NAEYC) of Washington, DC has announced that Ivy Tech Community College Richmond’s Associate of Applied Science Early Childhood Education Degree earned NAEYC Early Childhood Associate Degree Accreditation.
The accreditation decision is based on the Commission’s review of the program Self-Study Report, the peer Review Team site visit report and written response to the report. The Commission evaluates the evidence that indicated the ability of the program to support positive student outcomes in relation to the accreditation standards. Special attention is given to the use of student assessments and performance data to increase program effectiveness, capacity and innovation.
Dr. Maureen Brustkern indicated that “Early Childhood Program Chairs around the state have waited eagerly for the opportunity to validate our quality programs through the accreditation process. I am proud to be among the first programs in the state and nation to have earned this honor.”
The accreditation is for seven years and Ivy Tech Community College Richmond is one of the first thirty-four programs in the nation to receive NAEYC Early Childhood Associate Degree Accreditation. |
