Local Students Help Residents Displaced by Hurricane
For the first time, Indiana University East, Earlham College, and Ivy Tech Community College-Richmond students will participate in a service learning project. They will be joining Emergencies Communities in an Alternative Spring Break Trip to help rebuild houses, work with children and serve food to the local residents of New Orleans, Louisiana.
From March 17-March 24, eighteen students will work a full week to make a positive change in the Katrina devastated New Orleans area. Throughout the trip, students will engage in reflective activities to facilitate learning. As an extension of this reflection and learning, one student from each institution will present at the 6th Annual ICC Conference on Service and Engagement at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. |
