Ivy Tech Community College is the nation’s top recipient of charitable giving among community colleges

INDIANAPOLIS (February 26, 2007) – Ivy Tech Community College topped the nation’s community colleges in private charitable giving, according the results of The Council for Aid to Education annual survey.

Receiving $15,349,718 in 2006, Ivy Tech Foundation, the College’s charitable funding arm, reports that 38% of contributions were used for instructional equipment and technology and 10% for student financial aid. Contributions to the college stem from a variety of sources; 5% of the funding was contributed by employees and another 22% by individuals outside of the College, planned and deferred gifts made up 11% of the 2006 gifts, foundations and organizations 40% and corporations 22%.

In addition to Ivy Tech, the top five community college recipients of charitable giving includes Indian River Community College, Maricopa Community College District, Santa Rosa Junior College and SUNY Westchester Community College.

Ivy Tech Community College is the state’s second largest public post-secondary institution with over 100,000 students enrolled annually.  Ivy Tech has 23 campuses throughout Indiana.  It serves as the state's engine of workforce development, offering affordable degree programs and training that are aligned with the needs of its community along with courses and programs that transfer to other colleges and universities in Indiana.  It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
