Getting Started in your Summer 2008 Internet Class

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call Curtis R. Blakely at 765-966-2656 x 1123 or 800-659-4562 x 1123 or contact Curtis at cblakely@ivytech.edu. Always include your first & last name and eLearning Username.

Welcome

We are excited to see that you have registered for an Internet class with the Ivy Tech Richmond campus. There are a number of things you need to complete prior to the first day of classes, May 19, 2008. We recommend that you print this page and keep it handy during the term.

Step 1
Ordering Your Textbooks

You must order your textbooks so they arrive PRIOR to the start of class. Go to the online bookstore to order your textbooks.

If you are purchasing your books using financial aid monies, you must complete the financial aid authorization section of your book order form. Purchases being made with financial aid monies will not be shipped until after the financial aid charge period begins.

Step 2
Log in to the course web site

Log in to the course web site eLearning powered by Blackboard (available May 19, 2008) via Campus Connect.

You will log into your course, on a weekly basis, at http://cc.ivytech.edu/. This is a secured web site. You must log in using a username and password. We STRONGLY recommend that you bookmark this page or add it to your favorites so that you do not have to re-enter the address each time you visit your course.  Click on the tab Courses and then the link From Ivy Tech Campuses using eLearning powered by Blackboard.

Your username is the same as your Campus Connect. If you do not know what your CC username is you can go to http://cc.ivytech.edu/ and click on the link How do I get a user name and password?

If you have trouble logging on contact Curtis R. Blakely immediately. Include your first & last name and your Campus Connect username.

Step 3
Read the Online Orientation Materials

Read the Online Orientation Materials

If you have not taken an Internet class with us (or another Ivy Tech campus) before, you need to become familiar with the Blackboard system. The best way to do this is to complete the Online Tutorials. Please note that the Online Tutorials is not a requirement - it is provided to allow you an opportunity to become familiar with the Blackboard system.

You can also visit our "Frequently Asked Questions" page for more info on using Blackboard.

Term Calendar and Fee Information

Your courses begin on January 14, 2008. You will not have access to course materials prior to this date. Instructors are not required to make courses available to students until this date. If a course is not in your course list by 5:00 p.m. on January 14 , please contact Curtis R. Blakely via email at cblakely@ivytech.edu. Please include your first and last name and your username (see step 2 above), as well as the course or courses that are not listed in your course list.

TUITION AND FEES MUST BE PAID PRIOR TO THE FIRST DAY OF CLASSES. If you do not pay your fees prior to the fee due date of January 11, 2008, you may be removed from one or all of your classes for non-payment. Any graded work done up to the point at which you are removed from the course may have to be completed again if you are removed for non-payment. You must work with your local campus to be sure your fees are paid or that other payment arrangements have been made for your account.

Other Important Dates during the term:

  • May 26, 2008 - CAMPUS CLOSED - No Classes - Memorial Day
  • July 4, 2008 - CAMPUS CLOSED - No Classes - Independence Day
