What Equipment and Software Do I Need?

Successful participation in online learning requires that you have a computer with Internet access. Minimum system requirements for your computer are listed below.

• A PC capable of running Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP  - or -
  MAC System 7 or higher
• 32 Mb of RAM
• 33.3k minimum internet connection
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (or later) or Netscape 4.72 (or later)
• A current email address
  Note: If you are a currently enrolled Ivy Tech student, you have a Campus Connect email account at https://cc.ivytech.edu/

Recommended System Requirements:

• A monitor that can display 256 colors or higher.
• 64 MB RAM.
• CD-ROM drive (may be required for some courses).
• Sound Card (may be required for some courses).
• 56.6 Kbps or faster Internet connection.
• Printer.

Software requirements: vary depending on the course you are taking. The Distance Education Coordinator or course instructor will advise you about requirements for various courses. In general, however, the following are minimum software requirements:

• Windows 95 (98) or later version.
• Web browser Internet Explorer 5.0 or Netscape 4.72 or higher.
• Word processing software recommended (Microsoft Word 97 or higher preferred).
• Some courses require access to specific software and additional supplies. Go to the web site of the campus originating your course for more information.
  Note: It is the student's responsibility to obtain any required software or supplies.
