Childhood Education Program Information
The Early Childhood Education program focuses on early childhood
growth and development, including adult-child relationships. Emphasis
is placed on the development of skills and techniques for providing
appropriate environments and care for young children. Instruction
is provided in the physical, emotional, social and cognitive areas
of early childhood. The training is appropriate for candidates seeking
the Early Childhood Education (CDA) credential. The student develops
competencies through classroom instruction, observation and participation
in early childhood settings.
Employment opportunities include day care, nursery school, Head
Start, family day care, pediatrics setting, nanny care, school aide,
school age care, employer-sponsored day care, infant/toddler care,
resource and referral services, inter-generational care, respite/sick
and other settings.
