Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast is located in Fort Wayne and serves nine counties in the northeast corner of the state. It is the second largest region in the Ivy Tech system and has grown from 131 students enrolled in three programs in August 1969, when the College opened its doors in rented facilities in a former high school, to more than 11,000 students enrolled in seven schools and 32 degree programs in 2009. Ivy Tech-Northeast's Coliseum and North campuses are located in Fort Wayne, across the street from IPFW. The college also offers courses at numerous locations (Community Campuses) throughout northeast Indiana.
Ivy Tech provides professional, technical, transfer, and lifelong education for successful careers, personal development, and citizenship. Academic courses and programs are offered in applied science and engineering technology, business, education, health sciences, liberal arts and sciences (general education), nursing, public and social services, and technology. The college also works closely with area employers in developing custom training programs to meet individual needs.
The college has students of all ages and backgrounds that range in age from 16 to retirees and learn in classrooms with an average class size in the teens. Many earn two-year degrees, while others take short-term certificate programs or enroll in a class or two. Students enjoy flexible scheduling opportunities that enable them to enroll around family and work responsibilities. They may attend full-time, part-time, during the day, or in the evening.
Ivy Tech Community College is the state's largest public postsecondary institution and the nation's largest singly accredited statewide community college system serving nearly 200,000 students annually. Ivy Tech has campuses throughout Indiana.
