Globalization of Ivy Tech education being realized

Immediately following Thanksgiving, Ivy Tech Community College–Northeast welcomed a second group of Chinese community college presidents as a part of the American Association of Community Colleges’ Vocational Education Leadership Training (VELT) program. The five delegates toured the campus and met with college administrators, faculty, staff, students and area community leaders during their stay. They also toured northeast Indiana businesses, including Sweetwater Sound, Steel Dynamics Inc. and Joseph Decuis and its Heritage Farms.

These engagements are an example of Ivy Tech–Northeast’s efforts in establishing study abroad opportunities, as well as student and faculty exchange programs in the near future. In fact, spring 2012 study abroad opportunities have been arranged for anyone interested in expanding their horizons. Visit the college’s Center for Global Education website or contact Andrea Robinson Hinsey, dean of the School of Business, at 260-480-4269 for more information.

Ivy Tech–Northeast hosted its second group of Chinese community college delegates Nov. 28 through Dec.2. Their itinerary included a meeting with Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry and tours of Smith Field, Sweetwater Sound and Steel Dynamics Inc.
