Our opinion:
Ivy Tech’s Snyder ready to go

May 9, 2007

The enthusiasm of incoming Ivy Tech Community College President Tom Snyder should go a long way in making up for his lack of experience in higher education.

Snyder, who visited Bloomington last week, exudes excitement for the job he is scheduled to begin July 1.

He sees a strong Ivy Tech in place that he hopes to make better by unifying the system of 23 campuses while allowing enough flexibility for each campus to best serve its region of the state.

Ivy Tech under Snyder will be headed toward building even stronger bridges to carry high school graduates toward, ultimately, a four-year degree, and building stronger bridges with businesses that need a more highly trained work force. We wish him well along the way.
