Academic Search Premier (EBSCO) -- A multidisciplinary database with full-text of 3600 peer-reviewed titles dating back to 1975 [To limit your results to nursing in the United States, you can add (GE "United States") to your search terms; and ZG also works, as used for Health Source. (CY US) is supposed to limit your search to articles published in the United States (country of publication), but I'm not finding it works as well.] |
Access Science -- An encyclopedia of science and technology (health sciences well-represented); good for background information |
| CQ Researcher -- CQ provides lengthy research reports written
by the editorial staff of the Congressional Quarterly Co. Reports
related to nursing or nurses include nursing shortage and medical
mistakes. |
| Health Source: Nursing/Academic (EBSCO) -- Scholarly journals for medical disciplines [To limit your results to nursing in the United States, follow this example to include the geographic term: (ZG "UNITED STATES") AND nursing AND cancer.] Lexi-PAL Patient Advisory drug information is now available in Health Source: Nursing/Academic, and covers over 1000 generic medications, 100 natural products and 19 vaccines. Lexi-PAL content can be accessed by adding the search term lexi-pal to your search. |
| Health Source: Consumer Edition (EBSCO) -- Health related journals
and magazines for the consumer |
| Health Business Full-Text (EBSCO) -- Well-known administrative
journals |
| Health & Wellness Research Center (GALE) -- Health reference materials with journals and magazines [I've heard this database is going to take a more consumer focus; but in the meantime is great for reference and background material.] |
| Lexis-Nexis
Medical -- Medical news, journals, and abstracts
(Click "Medical" on left of screen) |
| MEDLINE --
Authoritative medical information from the National
Library of Medicine on medicine, nursing, dentistry, and more.

citations (not a full-text database). You can search PUBMED directly, bypassing the EBSCO interface for MEDLINE. |
Nursing
Journals (ProQuest) -- Nursing and healthcare
facilities journals [To limit results to United States, you can add
this code to your search: GEO(United States--US) -- or you can
use the Advanced Search screen, "More Search Options" and fill
in United States under Location. This really cuts down your results
and may be counterproductive; with or without it, a search for nurs*
AND cancer produces results from the journal Cancer
Nursing on the first screen (how perfect!). By the way --
ProQuest is a terrific database for nursing, and though it is
alphabetically last of the pink 3, it should probably be first
on your list to try -- and below is a search box to make that
easy:
