With more than 150,000 members, APA is the largest association of psychologists worldwide.”  It hosts a very deep website with a multitude of services and information; also sponsors PsycARTICLES Direct for full-text articles which charges $11.95/article (but we now have access to PsycARTICLES through EBSCO), and PsycINFO a searchable database of abstracts (for a fee).
      •  APA HelpCenter  -- "The APA HelpCenter offers information on coping with job insecurity and stress, family situations, the 'mind-body connection', mental health conditions, therapy and how to find a psychologist."
      •  APA Style Electronic References  --  "Provides an excerpt from the 5th edition of the APA Publication Manual focusing on commonly asked questions on citing electronic media."
      •  APA Ethics Office – New ethics code went into effect June 1, 2003; other resources available.
      •  Psycoloquy (ISSN 1055-0143) is a refereed international, interdisciplinary electronic journal sponsored by the American Psychological Association (APA) and indexed by APA's PsycINFO and the Institute for Scientific Information. Psycoloquy publishes articles and peer commentary in all areas of psychology as well as cognitive science, neuroscience, behavioral biology, artificial intelligence, robotics/vision, linguistics and philosophy.
    • American Psychological Society – “building a science-first foundation for psychology.” “The Society's mission is to promote, protect, and advance the interests of scientifically oriented psychology in research, application, teaching, and the improvement of human welfare.” -- includes full-text reports and journal articles for members.  (Undergraduate student rates are under $40)
    • AmoebaWeb -- AmoebaWeb is an American Psychological Association Website of the Month, providing over 2000 links to psychology content (including full-text articles) freely available on the Web.  It is maintained by Douglas Degelman, Ph.D.Professor of Psychology at Vanguard University of Southern California (who seems to keep it very up-to-date).
    • Catalyst: Information on Computers in Psychology -- “The Net’s most comprehensive info on computers in psychology”—“ Computers in psychology resources, including cyberpsychology, internet addiction, Y2K anxiety, online psychotherapy, technology in education, and human-computer interaction.”
    • Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence--includes a literature database.

      An internet resource developed by Christopher D. Green as "an effort to make the full texts of a large number of historically significant public domain documents from the scholarly literature of psychology and allied disciplines available on the World Wide Web."  Includes complete texts of key works by Binet, Freud, William James, John Dewey, Skinner,Terman, Watson, and more.

    • ePsych -- This site is designed to teach about psychological processes in a rich experiential setting. But we don't want to be dull and boring along the way. Cheesy? Sure! Silly? No doubt!     • Fenichel’s  Current Topics in Psychology – Dr. Michael Fenichel shares some of the best articles, websites and research tools he has found, assembled for easy reference.  (Professor and clinical psychologist) Forsyth’s Overview of Psychology – This page developed by Donelson R. Forsyth, Professor, Department of Psychology, Virginia Commonwealth University, is a selective list of links to resources in pychology on the web. Uniquely, includes his web materials for the virtual labs used in his course. Guide for Writing Research Papers based on Styles Recommended by the American Psychological Association--footnoting, presentation of bibliographies, how to handle quotations, charts, figures, etc.

(Continuing Medical Education), "MHI provides quality mental health information for the professional as well as the layperson.  Content includes Psychiatric Times, Ask the Expert, Depression infoCenter, Bipolar Disorders Information Center, NARSAD and other advocacy information, Healthier You, 600+ mental health links, the MH Phone Book, MH Book Locator and CME opportunities, including conferences, home study and credit for on-line articles."
    • Mental Help Net--disorders and treatment, plus more.  The website participates in the CenterSite Network of behavioral healthcare websites, providing these resources:  community, news, book review, psych self-help, self-help groups, tests, symptoms, medications, videos, glossary, phone numbers, therapists/clinics—a Forbes.com Best of the Web winner for 2001.  [“CMHC Systems, a recognized leader in the development and delivery of information technology for healthcare and human services organizations and an active force in a nationwide HIPAA awareness campaign, is pleased to announce the ranking of its web site, Mental Health Net, as one of Forbes Magazines' Favorites.” -- all indications point to this being the predecessor of Mental Help Net.  If so, it is a “not-for-profit organization devoted to mental health information and education resources online, the largest review guide of mental health, psychology, and psychiatry resources online today,” says Dr. Franklin of Psychology Information Online]
    • Methods in Behavioral Research--a text by Paul C. Cozby of Cal State Fullerton. Each chapter is supplemented with links on online resources.   Web site provides resources “for Methods in Behavioral Research, a text for research methods courses in psychology and other behavioral sciences. This Web site is organized by the chapters in the book. Each chapter lists Web resources that you can access to enhance learning about and teaching research methods. The links will open in a new window so you won't lose this site while exploring research topics. There are also practice quizzes for each chapter and files for downloading.”
    • MuSICA Music & Science Information Computer Archive -- MuSICA currently provides all issues of MuSICA Research Notes. MRN is a newsletter of analysis and commentary on the broad field of research on music and behavior, including evolution, brain mechanisms, child development, perception, learning, memory, performance, health and related topics. The author of all material is Dr. Norman M. Weinberger.
    • National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, Medical Page--contains detailed information on specific disorders, medications, etc. Also look at Facts for statistics. “At the heart of NAMI's mission is the sharing of information with consumers (i.e., persons with mental illnesses), their families, friends, mental health professionals, and the general public. NAMI educates all people about severe and persistent mental illnesses to eliminate stigma and promote access to integrated systems of care, education, and rehabilitation. Research is constantly providing us with new information about the brain and the nature of mental illnesses and, consequently, more effective treatments.     • National Institute of Mental Health--of particular interest are the public information on disorders and medications, and the research reports.
    • National Strategy for Suicide Prevention -- a collaborative effort of  the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institutes of Health and the Health Resources and Services Administration.
    • Neurosciences on the Internet--neuroanatomy, biochemistry, medicine, and cognitive neurosciences.
    • Office of Teaching Resources in Psychology (OTRP)  -- The Office of Teaching Resources in Psychology (OTRP) develops and distributes teaching and advising materials and provides services to teachers of psychology at all levels on behalf of The Society for the Teaching of Psychology.
    • PsychCentral--includes professional reviews of sites, symptom lists from the DSM, booklists, articles, resource library, disorders, quizzes, etc. from Dr. John Grohol, a “one-stop index for psychology, support, and mental health issues, resources, and people on the Internet, since 1992.”
    • Psychiatry and the Law--Dr. James F. Hooper of the award-winning Forensic Psychiatry text hosts this site, which includes summaries of relevant court cases, APA position statements, links to other mental health sites.
    • Psychiatry OnLine -- The International Forum for Psychiatry - the world's First Internet Medical Journal. Editor: Dr Ben Green, MB, ChB, MRCPsych ILTM. University of Liverpool.  Includes articles and links for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Mental Health, Forensic psychiatry, and international links.

    • Psychology Online Resource Central –"The hottest web links and online resources for psychology students and faculty. ”  Author’s credentials not clearly identified.
    • Psychology with Style--a psychology professor explains how to write psychology papers following APA guidelines. Many will find him clearer than the APA Publication Manual.
    • Psychology WWW Virtual Library -- The Psychology Virtual Library keeps track of online information as part of The World Wide Web Virtual Library. Sites are inspected and evaluated for their adequacy as information sources before they are linked from here.  Categories of links include clinical social work, electronic and print journals, and other directories.
    • PsychScholar  -- A Collection of Web Resources for Psychological Scholars and Budding Psychological Scholars by John H. Krantz, Ph.D., Hanover College.  Features several sections:

    • PsychWatch – “The online resource for professionals in psychology and psychiatry.” Psychwatch began in April, 1998 as a weekly email Newsletter detailing events and internet-related developments in the mental health field. It has since evolved into a global communication and information network, providing information to those in the healthcare and mental health care fields.  The Psychwatch Newsletter has a readership of over 12,000 professionals and students in at least 75 different countries.     • Research Randomizer: Instant Random Sampling & Random Assignment -- This web site is designed to assist researchers and students who want an easy way to perform random sampling or assign participants to experimental conditions. Research Randomizer can be used in a wide variety of situations, including psychological experimentation, medical trials, and survey research. The program uses a JavaScript random number generator to produce customized sets of random numbers.  Also includes tutorial to show some examples of how Research Randomizer can be used for random sampling and random assignment.
    • SAMHSA’s National Mental Health Information Center --United States Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration – “SAMHSA's National Mental Health Information Center provides information about mental health via a toll-free telephone number (800-789-2647), this web site and more than 200 publications.”

    • Sensation/Perception Jeopardy -  Linda Walsh's Jeopardy Game for her Introduction to Psychology students. 
    • Sense and Perception resources-The Physiology of the Senses: Transformations for Perception and Action Tutis Vilis, University of Western Ontario, Canada provides 12 lessons on sense and perception topics with Flash instruction files, PDF files, problem sets, and related links for each lesson. (Very nice!)
    • Sniffy, the Virtual Lab Rat - "Sniffy the Virtual Rat, is a fun, interactive software program that gives undergraduate students a virtual laboratory experience . . . without all the drawbacks of using a real laboratory rat."     • Social Psychology Network  -- Social psychology is the scientific study of how people think about, influence, and relate to one another. Social psychology topics include prejudice and discrimination, gender, culture, social influence, interpersonal relations, group behavior, aggression, and more.     • Social Statistics Briefing Room -- government demographic, health, education, and crime statistics in brief, arranged for ease of use by non-statisticians.  “The purpose of this service is to provide easy access to current Federal social statistics. It provides links to information produced by a number of Federal agencies. All of the information included in the Social Statistics Briefing Room is maintained and updated by the statistical units of those agencies. All the estimates for the indicators presented in the Federal Statistics Briefing Rooms are the most currently available values.”
