Project
Development
While much content was adapted "as is" from Western
Michigan's tutorial, Searchpath, (and TILT from the University
of Texas), the work of adaptation and modification of
graphics, logos, local information, and all original material
was a initially a volunteer project of Sharon Griffith, Librarian,
of Shafer Library, East Central Region of Ivy Tech Community College
of Indiana. Final development was made possible
by a Perkins grant. [Development information
for Western Michigan's Searchpath: "A Teaching
with Technology grant from Western Michigan University provided
funding for release time for the author, assistance with
coding, and software. Joe Reish and Bettina Meyer lent the support
of the University Libraries, as did Maria Perez-Stable."]
Credits
I would like to acknowledge my debt to the Searchpath development
team, from whom I borrowed the "guts" of Searchpath
for IvyTILT. My primary inspiration was drawn from TILT, which
I have been
fascinated with for years, but I chose to work from Searchpath
because of the 6-module organization, and because Western Michigan
uses a similar online catalog to ours, from Voyager Endeavor.
I
chose
to re-insert
some TILT material that Searchpath didn't use, and some that
even TILT didn't include in their actual tutorial (the Library
Squares Flash game). Some information and graphics from IUPUI's
inflite was included in Module 2.
The credits
from Western Michigan:
"We would like to acknowledge our debt
to Judith Arnold and Patricia VanderMeer
as pioneers, as well as to the outstanding example of
TILT, from which we drew inspiration. TILTs Open Publication
License opened up new possibilities for interactivity in Searchpath.

Media Production
at WMU created the the Flash pieces for information literacy in
Module 1 and where to find indexes (Module 4), as well as the opening
page graphic. Special thanks to Sarah Welshman and Joe Hawver, students
extraordinaire, who patiently lent themselves to this endeavor.
We would also like to acknowledge Brandon Meissner, as well as Aedin
Clements, David Isaacson, Patricia VanderMeer, and Laurel Grotzinger
for their editing suggestions.

Numbers" page, is reproduced with the permission of Seattle

Many of the graphics came from TILT, others were created by Elaine
Anderson Jayne, Judith Arnold, or come from free clip art collections
such as the Action-Links
Clip Art Archive and the Northern
Illinois University images. Permission was granted by the
New Yorker for the use of the "On the Internet, nobody
knows you are a dog" cartoon. The photo of Martin Luther
King, Jr. in Module 6 is courtesy of WMU Archives & Regional
History Collections."
