Student Life, Development and Leadership
Why get involved on campus?? Campus involvement is a great way to make the most of your college experience! The Office of Student Life provides you with co-curricular programming designed to supplement your classes. Opportunities include: academic clubs, social and interest based student organizations, intramural sports, leadership development, campus events and other student activities are available.
Top 5 reasons why students get involved at Ivy Tech Lafayette:
Student Government Association (SGA)
The Student Government Association (SGA) is the official voice of the student body and is a vital link to ensure a positive learning environment for our student body. Each year, SGA plans a wide variety of programs and activities designed to enhance campus life. Participation in SGA also provides many opportunities for leadership. Elections for the SGA Executive Board are held during the spring semester.
Campus Activities Board (CAB)
The Campus Activities Board (CAB) provides social, cultural and educational events for the campus community. Students serving on CAB get to work closely with nationally touring comedians, musicians, lecturers, magicians and artists. Planning and promoting events are great skills to add to your resume!
Clubs and Organizations
Being a member of a club or student organization is a great way to meet new people, have fun, and add experiences to your resume. For a list of clubs and organizations, be sure to check out our Clubs and Organizations Page

Leadership Development and Student Leadership Academy
The Office of Student Life offers a variety of leadership development activities. In addition to getting involved with SGA, CAB or one of our many clubs and organizations, Student Life offers leadership development retreats, conferences, workshops and other experiences.
The Ivy Tech Student Leadership Academy (SLA) is a leadership development program designed specifically for Ivy Tech students. SLA provides the opportunity to further develop your leadership development and professional development skills, while learning more about the history and traditions of the College. SLA is a 10 week program offered during the fall semester. The program is free to students, but there is an application process. For more information, visit the Office of Student Life, Ivy Hall 1323.
Our students are servant leaders. They are constantly giving back to our local and global community. Many of our clubs and organizations participate in service activities that benefit our region. Each year, Ivy Tech students across the state participate in Day of Service each fall semester, where hundreds of our students, faculty and staff will spend the day completing various service projects in our community. The Day of Service for fall semester will be held on October 18, 2013.
Intramural Sports and Recreational Programming
Intramural and Recreational Sports offer something for everyone. We have offered soccer, softball, flag football, basketball and many other options through our partnership with the Lafayette Family YMCA. We also are very proud of our traveling men’s basketball club team. Make sure you catch one of their games!

The Jan and Jim Shook Wellness Center, located on the second floor of Ivy Hall, is a great way for students and employees to remain active while on campus.
