Financial aid is money to help you pay for college. Many people don’t have the money needed to pay for tuition, fees, books and supplies. That’s where financial aid comes in. Financial aid includes gift aid [such as grants and scholarships], student loans, and part-time employment.
If you qualify, financial aid may pay for all or part of you class fees, books, supplies, and living expenses. If semester fees are less than your total amount of financial aid, you will receive the remaining amount of aid by check during the semester.
Most financial aid programs are available to degree-seeking students enrolled at least half-time [minimum of 6 credit hours], but now there are even programs for students enrolled less than half-time. If you can only attend college part-time, you may still find there is financial aid available if you apply.
Financial aid forms and counseling are available from the Financial Aid Office in Room 1144 in Ivy Hall located at
3101 S. Creasy Lane, in Lafayette. Walk-ins welcome.
