Many scholarship opportunities are offered by private donors. Most require you to complete a particular scholarship application. Scholarship awards can range from $100 to $2,500 annually; award criteria can relate to anything from residence, age, gender, or choice of major, etc. Finding out about private scholarships requires research. Single parents, dislocated/unemployed/under employed workers, and/or homemakers attempting to enter the work force may be able to obtain financial assistance through the Indiana Workforce Development Office in their county of residence. Students with disabilities that may be considered handicaps to employment may qualify for assistance through the Indiana Rehabilitation Services Board. The local office of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation [DVR] establishes the conditions of eligibility and awards assistance based on individual need. The DVR expects students to apply for financial assistance through filing the FAFSA. However, if these resources are not sufficient to meet their needs, the DVR may provide additional funding. Veterans' Benefits
Students who served in the armed forces may be eligible for veterans' benefits. The Veterans Administration determines eligibility for all veterans. Applications for educational benefits may be obtained from the Ivy Tech Community College regional Office of Veterans Affairs. The student should apply for these benefits at the earliest possible date. Ivy Tech Community College - Lafayette has a veterans affairs coordinator to assist veterans. Children of veterans who are deceased or 100 percent disabled as a result of service-connected injury may be eligible for veterans' benefits from the VA. Children of a Disabled Veteran Fee Remission [CVO]
Indiana residents who are children of deceased or disabled veterans or of veterans who are recipients of the Purple Heart may be eligible for a fee waiver at Ivy Tech Community College.
