Kokomo Region awards ag scholarships

Scholarships are still available for eligible students

KOKOMO, Ind. — Ivy Tech Community College’s Kokomo Region recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to five area students for the 2009-10 academic year. The recipients of the 2009 Ivy Tech Foundation Agriculture Scholarship are Jonathan Burns, Caston H.S.; Bodie Kitchel, Lewis Cass H.S.; Erick Miller, Northwestern H.S.; Carla Napier, North Miami H.S.; and Derek Plaster, Bethany Christian H.S. in Middlebury.

The agriculture scholarships were made possible through funds from the Ivy Tech Foundation. To qualify, the student must be a graduating high school senior with a  GPA of 2.0 or higher who has enrolled with Ivy Tech to pursue an agriculture degree through the Kokomo Region.

Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo started its agriculture program in the fall of 2007 offering a concentration in crop production. The college added concentrations in agriculture business management and agriculture equipment management in the fall of 2008. The college offers both an Associate of Science designed to transfer to the Purdue University School of Agriculture and an Associate of Applied Science designed to prepare graduates to enter the workforce.
