KOKOMO, Ind.—Ivy Tech Community College’s Department of Workforce and Economic Development will be offering a five-day seminar in Logansport beginning July 13 that will prepare students for the facilities operating engineer’s licensing exam. The seminar is designed to provide students with basic knowledge and skills necessary to safely and efficiently operate a facilities plant.
Businesses that might be interested in this training for their employees include processing plants, refineries, central heating plants, power plants, any company that uses boiler heating, steel mills, and even apartment buildings and schools. Because boiler operation and maintenance responsibility fall under many different individuals within an organization, anyone associated with boilers should consider taking this course. This class will prepare you for the American Society of Power Engineers Facility Plant Operator 3rd Class License exam. At the completion of training, Ivy Tech will administer the licensing exam to those who are qualified and interested.
The course costs $754, which includes the textbook, materials and exam. The class will be taught by Larry Tarvin and will be held at Fairview Elementary School, 846 South Cicott St. in Logansport. The class is scheduled Monday through Friday, July 13–17, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
