Fee remission awards. Fee remission awards for orphans of Indiana police and fire personnel or dependents of POW or MIAs are forms of selective assistance.

Vocational rehabilitation. Students with disabilities that may be considered barriers to employment may qualify for benefits through the Family Social Services Administration. The local office of the Division of Disability, Aging and Rehabilitative Services establishes the conditions of eligibility and awards assistance based on individual need. The division expects students to apply for the Pell Grant and other forms of financial aid through the college. However, if these resources are not sufficient to meet their needs, the division may provide additional funding. Further information is available from the local office of the Division of Disability, Aging and Rehabilitative Services.

Trade Readjustment Act (TRA). Full tuition and fees, books and supplies are provided to eligible students. Students should check with their local Department of Employment and Training Office to determine eligibility.

Indiana Workforce Development. Students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds may be able to obtain assistance in acquiring vocational training or in upgrading occupational skills through programs administered by Indiana Workforce Development. For further information, contact your local Indiana Workforce Development office.

Employer-funded education. Many employers fund in full or in part courses taken at Ivy Tech when the training offered relates to the employee’s job responsibilities. Interested students should contact their employers to determine if such arrangements can be made.

Union training funds. Many unions have training funds available for members. Interested students should contact their unions regarding availability of training funds for use at Ivy Tech Community College.

High school senior 21st Century Scholar students attending Logansport, Rochester, Caston, Pioneer, Winamac, North Miami and the El-Tip-Wa Adult Learning Center will be awarded an Ivy Tech Community College Free Class Scholarship (3 credit hours). This class must be taken during the summer semester at the Logansport site.A Cass County resident enrolled in a two-year industrial technology program at Ivy Tech Community College Logansport will receive a Community Foundation Ivy Tech Scholarship.

The Community Spirit Scholarship will be awarded to a Wabash county resident attending Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo Region. New or continuing students maintaining a 2.0 GPA are eligible. Students who are not eligible for other types of financial aid may be considered for up to $1,000 per school year. Deadlines to apply are July 15 for fall and Dec. 1 for spring.

Wabash High School graduates may apply for the Ruth Minear Scholarship. Full-time students who are in good academic standing may pick up an application before March 1 at Wells Fargo Banks. Students must fill out a FAFSA to be eligible.

Two Ivy Tech Kokomo students working towards an associate’s degree or technical certificate will each be awarded each a $500 Tri Kappa Beta Lambda Chapter Scholarship. To be eligible, students must have accumulated at least 12 credit hours of college coursework and must complete at least nine credit hours in the upcoming spring semester at the Kokomo campus. Deadlines vary. For details, contact the financial aid office.

Students living in Howard County who are enrolled or are enrolling in at least six credit hours may apply for the Altrusa Memorial Scholarship. Applicant selection will be based on merit, financial need and community service. Scholarship application forms and guidelines may be obtained from the Altrusa’s Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 6028, Kokomo, IN 46904-6028, county high school guidance departments or the Ivy Tech financial aid office. Deadlines vary.

The Women’s Business Council Scholarship will be presented to a young woman pursuing a degree in business. The $500 scholarship winner must demonstrate community involvement and a dedication to education. The scholarship is cosponsored by the Community Foundation and the Kokomo/Howard County Chamber of Commerce. Deadlines vary. An application must be completed.

The USA Funds Scholarship Program is a need-based scholarship to help narrow the gap between college-participation rates of low-income and higher-income students. It is designed to assist students from families with annual adjusted gross incomes of $35,000 or less. This is a renewable scholarship for up to three years. The USA Funds Scholarship Program will award up to half of its scholarships to applicants who, in addition to demonstrating financial need, are members of ethnic minority groups or are physically disabled. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation developed the Coca-Cola Two-Year Colleges Scholarship Program. This scholarship is for students attending two-year institutions of higher education. A student must plan to pursue a degree at an accredited institution, carry a minimum GPA of 2.5, enroll at least half time, not be a dependent of a Coca-Cola employee, and have completed 100 hours of community service. Selection of candidates is based on a balanced consideration of leadership, character, achievement and commitment, both inside and outside the classroom. The application deadline vary each year; applications may be obtained from the financial aid office.

The Reed Family Scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to a Logansport student that is a Cass County resident. It will be awarded through two disbursements—$500 in the fall and $500 in the spring—to be used toward tuition. To be eligible, students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better. Final selection will be made by the Reed family. Applications can be picked up and turned in to the Logansport financial aid office. The application deadline is July 19.

The Faye Riddleberger Scholarship of $2,000 will be awarded to a current Logansport student who is a Cass County resident. It will be awarded through two disbursements—$1,000 in the fall and $1,000 in the spring—to be used toward tuition, fees or books. Students must fill out a FAFSA to be eligible. The application may be picked up and turned in at the Logansport financial aid office. The application deadline is March 15.

Students living in Cass County who are enrolled or are enrolling in at least six credit hours may apply for the Altrusa Club of Logansport Scholarship. Applicant selection will be based on merit, financial need and community service. Scholarship application forms and guidelines may be obtained from the Altrusa’s Scholarship Committee, 5141 E. Northcrest Dr., Logansport, IN 46947, county high school guidance departments or the Ivy Tech financial aid office.
