Assessment
*Assessment testing may be waived if the applicant submits either:
1. an official transcript from an accredited post-secondary institution indicating successful achievement;
2. acceptable alternative standardized test scores(ie., SAT, ACT)
Otherwise, Ivy Tech Community College now requires you to take an assessment of basic learning skills. Schedule your assessment at a college or university campus or Ivy Tech outreach office in your area.
Assessment is required to evaluate your current skill levels in reading, writing, and math. It helps your advisor recommend the correct level and sequence of courses. Currently Ivy Tech uses COMPASS assessment scores to evaluate skill levels. Click here to view sample questions.
If the institution where you take your assessment uses COMPASS, it can send us your scores. We accept other types of accredited colleges' assessment scores besides COMPASS as long as the institution provides scores, explanations, and the course placement at that institution, reported on its official letterhead.
Select a college with a convenient location. Please contact them as soon as possible to schedule an assessment for yourself. You may want to ask about fees when you make your appointment so that you will be aware of if and how much they will charge you for this service. Ask them to send your results to:
