Ivy Institute of Technology

What is the Ivy Institute?

The Ivy Institute of Technology is a set of programs that focuses on the skills and knowledge required for industries where jobs are in high demand. The Ivy Institute offers accelerated programs in high-demand areas, including Automotive, HVAC, Machine Tool, Mechatronics (Advanced Manufacturing), Office Administration and Welding, that allow students to earn a new career in 40 weeks of laboratory/classroom instruction. Students will earn nationally recognized certifications, Certificate(s) and a Technical Certificate (TC). Students may choose to enter the high-wage, high-demand industry or choose to continue their education to gain an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree at Ivy Tech, with approximately 30% more coursework to complete.

Why choose the Ivy Institute?

Ivy Institute's programs are focused, with industry input, on the technology and skills needed to succeed in each field. Some unique features of an Ivy Institute Program:

  • Contextualized Learning format: The programs are technology focused, with math, reading and writing exercises embedded in class projects instead of traditional classroom settings.
  • Cohort focused: Students stay with the same group throughout the program, which fosters collaboration and provides mutual support.
  • Recognized Credentials: Certification exams are embedded in the program, so employers can be confident that graduates are prepared with relevant skills and knowledge.
  • Accelerated format: Each program is based on four, 10-week terms, allowing students to earn in excess of a TC in less than one year.

Ivy Institute relies on integrated lab activities to teach complete comprehension of class material and prepare students for their new rewarding jobs. At the end of each class, students will take exams for industry certifications and receive their Technical Certificate. Upon completion of the TC degree, students are ready to enter the workforce and they also have the option of continuing on to achieve their Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree.

MECHATRONICS
American manufacturers are becoming increasingly dependent upon the use of high-tech equipment that involves multiple, integrated systems. These integrated systems use electronics, sensors, motor drives, mechanical drives, robotics, PLCs, and software. These highly-integrated systems are now referred as mechatronics systems. It is critical that companies be able to recruit and employ individuals who know how to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain this high-tech equipment. The Advanced Manufacturing/Mechatronics Institute is designed to prepare students for the modern manufacturing environment. Students take certification exams for Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) certification and the Mechatronics National Certification Level 1 and 2, both of which are recognized and valued by employers. As a result, graduates have the opportunity to pursue employment with companies that have implemented team-oriented design, production, quality, and maintenance systems within the manufacturing environment.
