| Welcome! This site provides you - faculty, students, community members - with information about service learning, like that of the Ivy Tech-Central Indiana students above. Students cleaned Barton Park (left) and tutored at IPS 51 (right). |

| Participate. Experience has the power to change lives. Our experiences have transformed our senses of self and interactions with our communities and world. Service learning provides academic and personal context in which students translate course-specific theory into community participation and action. Apply. Service learning recognizes the connection between theory and application. In service learning, students apply an informed academic perspective to enhance community service. Reflect. Service learning includes an assessment / reflection component. Via continuous reflection and other demonstrations of knowledge, students document how that personal and academic change occurred, and why the change is meaningful and relevant to their lives, their studies, and their community. Now do. Use the resources on this site to design, implement, and assess service learning. |
