General Studies is an individualized, multi-disciplinary program that focuses on students taking their first two years of college at Ivy Tech Community College and then transferring their credits to other colleges and universities both in state and out of state.
Students earning a General Studies degree must complete a core of general education courses which include fundamentals of public speaking, English composition, exposition and persuasion, mathematics, and life and physical sciences. In addition to general education electives such as history, government and politics, psychology, sociology and philosophy, General Studies students also must select courses in a professional/technical concentration area such as Business, Arts & Design, Public Services, Technology or Health Sciences.
With careful planning and assistance from an academic advisor, students can tailor their General Studies degree to meet their personal, professional and transfer goals.
