Do you plan to attend the Commencement Ceremony?

All Fall 2013, Spring 2014, and Summer 2014 graduates should fill out the (on-line) Graduation Request to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.

Fall 2013 anticipated graduates will attend the Winter 2013 Commencement Ceremony.  For those desiring to participate in Winter Commencement, the application must be submitted by November 1, 2013 for the graduate's name to appear in the Commencement program.

Students will find the Graduation Request Form at Campus Connect by clicking on "APPLY TO GRADUATE."  If for some reason you are unable to submit the online form, paper Graduation Request Forms are available at the Office of the Registrar.


COMMENCEMENT DAY

Winter Commencement

Graduates should arrive at the Pike Performing Arts Center no later than 8:45 am to line up for the processional.  Guests and students should use the North Entry #5 to enter the building.  Signs will indicate the location of your school and program.

Be sure to leave all valuables, including purses and coats, with friends or family prior to the line-up.  Ivy Tech is not responsible for items left in the Pike Performing Arts Center.


Diplomas

Students do not need to pick up diplomas. Diplomas are mailed to students after grades are reported to the Registrar's Office, and Program Chairs certify that students meet requirements for graduation.  This process normally takes a minimum of eight to ten weeks after the end of the semester.


The Ceremony

The Commencement Ceremony lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours. Graduates' names will be announced as students cross the stage to be recognized.

Each graduate will receive 3 guest passes for family and friends to attend. All guests must have a pass in order to attend the ceremony and this includes children who may be sitting on an adult's lap. 

The passes can be picked up when students pick up their cap/gown at the NMC or LAW Bookstores on before December 6. After that date, students will need to contact lbrooks29@ivytech.edu to arrange pickup by December 12.

No additional guest passes will be given at this time due to maximum capacity limits and fire codes of the facility.


Ordering Caps, Gowns, and Announcements

Order caps, gowns, and announcements at the Follett Bookstore at the North Meridian or Fairbanks Center. Sales begin on October 1, 2013Caps/gowns will be available for pick up starting November 15, 2013.   A limited number of caps and gowns will be available for last-minute purchase until December 14 for those who did not order in advance. Supplies are not guaranteed.

Appropriate Attire

Women should wear a dress or skirt outfit and low-heeled, dark shoes. Men should wear slacks, shirt, tie, and dark shoes. Please iron or steam your robe before arriving for the ceremony.

COMMENCEMENT DAY - Spring Commencement

Graduates should arrive at Hall H in the Indiana Convention Center no later than 8:45 for the morning ceremony and 1:45 for the afternoon ceremony to line up for the processional.  Graduates will proceed to the Office of the Registrar's table (located in Hall H) in order to receive their name card and honor cords (if applicable). The name cards will direct students where to line up for the processional.
