Grants are gift-aid, meaning that they do not have to be repaid. There are federal, state, and institutional grants. You must complete a
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for these grants. The award amounts below are based on full-time enrollment (12+ credit hours) and may be prorated based upon actual enrollment.
To be eligible for these grants, you must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in a degree-seeking academic program and must not have earned a bachelor's degree. You must also be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen and have a high school diploma or GED to be considered for these awards.
Federal Grants:
- Pell Grant
Description: Federal need-based grant
Eligibility: Based on number of credit hours enrolled and EFC
Maximum Award Amount: Up to $5350 per year (individual award amounts may be lower based on student's EFC and enrollment)
- Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
Description: Federal need based grant
Eligibility: Pell grant recipient; completed a rigorous secondary program; degree seeking or 1-2 year certificate; graduated high school after 01/01/06 for 1st year award or 01/01/05 for 2nd year award; enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
Maximum Award Amount: $750 for 1st year; $1300 for 2nd year
- Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
Description: Federal need-based grant
Eligibility: Extreme financial need
Maximum Award Amount: $800
- TEACH Grant
Ivy Tech Community College will not participate in the Federal TEACH grant program for the 2009-2010 year. Students may continue to participate in the State TEACH grant programs.

- Frank O'Bannon Grant
Description: State need-based grant to be used for tuition/fees only; FAFSA must be recieved by federal processor by March 10, 2009.
Eligibility: Indiana resident; enrolled in 12 or more credit hours
Maximum Award Amount: Determined by SSACI
