Applying for Financial Aid

The cost of tuition, books and supplies might seem a little scary, but there are many sources of financial aid available to make financing your education a little easier. In Indiana, most financial aid sources use the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to determine the amount of money each student is eligible to receive.

This checklist will help you complete the financial aid process. Plan ahead! The FAFSA must be received by March 10.

Apply for Admissions

Plan Ahead - DEADLINE MARCH 10

  • IMPORTANT: The FAFSA must be RECEIVED by March 10 to be considered for state aid.

Complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

  • Once you've completed the FAFSA, a Student Aid Report (SAR) will be generated by the U.S. Department of Education. If you have listed our school code, we will receive an electronic copy.

  • If you are selected for Verification, you will be required to complete a Verification Worksheet and other financial forms before aid can be processed or disbursed. Make sure you turn in all required forms, if you don't it will cause processing delays.

Applying for a Loan

  • Choose your lender and complete your Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling requirement at Simple Tuition.

  • Once you select a lender, you will begin your application through the lender's website.

  • This step is not required if you are not applying for a loan.

Applying for a Loan: Complete Entrance Loan Counseling

  • First time borrowers and new students must complete Entrance Counseling at Simple Tuition.

  • NOTE: Failure to complete this will delay disbursements.

Applying for a Loan: Apply for an Alternative Loan (Optional)

  • If you need additional funds and have exhausted all other options, you may want to consider Alternative Loans.

  • Visit your local Financial Aid office for more information and a list of lenders.

Applying for a Loan: Apply for a Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) Loan (optional)

  • Borrower must be the parent/step-parent of a dependent student.   Refer to your FAFSA for dependency status.

Monitor Your Financial Aid Status

Important Things to Remember

  • File a FAFSA each year.  To qualify for state aid, your FAFSA must be RECEIVED by March 10.

  • Check your Financial Aid Requirements in Campus Connect regularly.  Promptly respond to all requests for additional information.

  • Federal regulations require all student loan borrowers to participate in Exit Loan Counseling whenever you drop below half-time enrollment status, withdraw, or graduate.
We understand the importance estimating how much aid you may qualify to receive. There are several online services that provide calculators including FinAid.org and FastWeb.
