  1. How do I apply?

  2. When should I apply to Ivy Tech?
    You can apply anytime! If you have submitted an application within the past 2 years, there's no need to reapply. Applications stay active for 2 years.

  3. What type of degrees and certificates can I earn?
    You can earn an A.A. (Associate of Arts), A.S. (Associates of Science), A.A.S. (Associate of Applied Science), A.F.A. (Associate of Fine Arts) degrees; and Technical Certificates.

  4. What is an A.A. degree?
    The Associate of Arts degree program prepares students for transfer to a four-year institution. General education and liberal arts courses make up all or almost all of the curriculum, and students are required to take a minimum of eight credit  hours in a foreign language. Concentrations are available in six areas. The coursework provides students with a foundation for transfer to a related baccalaureate program at a four-year institution.

  5. What is an A.S. degree?
    The college offers two types of AS programs: AS programs in technical and professional areas and AS programs in the liberal arts.
    The AS degree programs in the technical and professional areas prepare students for transfer to cooperating four-year institutions and for careers. Technical / professional AS programs typically contain 40 percent or more general education, with the balance in technical and profession courses. The coursework provides students with a foundation for transfer to a related baccalaureate program at a four-year institution, and equips students with skills for the job market. AS curricula in technical / professional areas are tailored to meet specific institutional transfer objectives.
    The AS degree program in the liberal arts prepares students for transfer to four-year institutions. General education and liberal arts courses make up all or almost all of the curriculum.
    Concentrations are available in four areas. The coursework provides students with a foundation for transfer to a related baccalaureate program at a four-year institution.

  6. What is an A.A.S. degree?
    The Associate of Applied Science degree program are two- year programs that prepare students for careers, career changes, and career advancement.  The A.A.S degree program prepares students for transfer to four-year institutions. These programs offer education in recognized technical areas and specialities with emphasis on analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. The program content, which is approximately 30 percent general education, provides depth and breadth in conceptual and professional /technical skills. The general education courses equip students with the problem solving, communications, scientific and mathematical skills to compete successfully in the job market. Professional / technical courses equip students with the skills to obtain employment and to advance in the workforce.  

  7. What is an A.F.A. degree?
    The associate of fine arts degree program prepares students for transfer to cooperating four-year institutions and for becoming professionals in the field of art. General education coursework makes up approximately 40 percent of the curriculum, including six hours of art history. The balance of the curriculum includes art foundation, studio art, graphic and design work, and elective coursework. The coursework provides students with a foundation for transfer to a related baccalaureate arts program at a four-year institution. 

  8. What type of certificate can I earn?
    TheTechnical Certificate programs provide education in conceptual and technical skills for specific occupations. Each program contains a sequence of required courses in a recognized concentration within one of the programs at the College. The program content is designed to develop competency in the comprehension of general and technical skills. Certificate programs require mastery of basic reading, writing,  mathematical and algebraic skills. What programs do you offer?

  10. I'm an adult trying to get started or return to college, is there an adult program?
    Yes. With our College for Working Adults Program, you can earn an Associate of Applied Science degree at Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana-Central Indiana in 24 months by following the College for Working Adults format.

  11. I don't have time for the traditional 16 week semester, do you offer flexible classes?
    Yes. Our FLEX terms are the same as traditional classes in many ways. All carry the same credit hour as a traditional course, cost is the same, all are financial aid eligible, and have the same amount of classroom seat time. Prerequisites for Flex Terms are no different than a traditional course. You can enroll in multiple Flex Terms throughout the semester.

  12. Do I need to take an entrance test to attend Ivy Tech?
    Yes. All degree seeking students must participate in the COMPASS assessment. The purpose of these assessments is to measure the student's achievement in mathematics, reading, and writing and to assist the student in the selection and placement of appropriate courses.

    *Students meeting one or more of the following criteria are exempt from 
      placement testing:
    - Possess an earned associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited
      institution.
    - SAT score of 460 or higher in each area to be waived from testing (no more
      than 4 years old)
    - ACT score of 19 or higher in each area to be waived from testing (no more   
      than 4 years old)
    - Have prior college coursework not culminating in an earned degree that
      meets the required academic standards and prerequisites for the selected
      degree program (coursework must be no more than 10 years old)             

  13. Can I receive financial aid, loans, grants or scholarships?

  14. Do you offer housing?
    Ivy Tech is a commuter college and does not operate residence halls.

  15. How much does it cost?
    Ivy Tech Community College is Indiana's most affordable college. In state tuition is $99.65 per credit and $206.85 for out of state and International students. Click here for more information.

    Yes. Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (312-263-0456). The college has also earned other regional accreditations.

  22. Can I transfer my Ivy Tech credits to another school?
    Ivy Tech Community College has partnerships with other colleges and universities. Credits from Ivy Tech transfer to many four-year schools including the state's largest institutions.
