The workforce readiness certification program is a joint effort between the Workforce and Economic Development (WED) division and Academic programs for Ivy Tech Community College - Central Indiana.

The purpose of this initiative is to produce graduates who demonstrate both academic skills as well as general skills that will allow students to obtain and maintain jobs.

These employable work skills are

• Attendance
• Interpersonal skills (teamwork, leadership, and dress)
• Punctuality (timely response to assignments)
• Communication (oral and written), Class performance (quality of work)
• Effort and Critical thinking.

Each course will incorporate a point system into the final course grade that will reflect a student’s understanding and display of specific employable work skills. Students who chose to get certified must complete a set of courses that emphasis these skills and additional program level courses that are outlined in the certification requirements.
