Full-Time Employee Handbook
Other Benefits

Ivy Tech provides all employees the opportunity to obtain long term care (LTC) insurance under the College's LTC program through MetLife. Long-term care refers to a broad range of supportive medical, personal and social services needed by people who are unable to meet their basic living needs for an extended period of time. Long-term care insurance provides coverage for these services.

The College LTC program offers a premium discount compared to individual policy rates and a more simplified underwriting process for employees who wish to participate. Issuance of long term care insurance through the College's LTC program is not guaranteed since each policy is individually underwritten and MetLife has the right to decline coverage based upon underwriting results.

Our LTC program is certified under the "Indiana Partnership Program" which screens insurance companies for financial strength, certain contract provisions, and must approve any requested premium increases. As a member in the Ivy Tech LTC program and as an Indiana resident, you will have the asset protection provided by policies certified under the Indiana Partnership Program. Out of state residents may still participate but are not eligible for the asset protection under the Partnership Program. This asset protection provides that in the event benefits from the plan are exhausted, the individual is allowed to retain assets while having Medicaid pay for continued care. The premiums for this voluntary benefit are payable in full by the employee and are paid directly to MetLife, not through payroll deduction.

Please contact your regional Human Resources Administrator for paperwork to request a proposal for the LTC program.
