The College recognizes three levels of honors for graduating students, based upon cumulative Grade Point Average:
Calculation of academic honors, if listed for publication in the graduation ceremony program, will be as of the semester prior to graduation. Honors recorded on the transcript will include the graduation term in the calculation.

If you plan to graduate at the end of Fall 2013, Spring 2014, or Summer semester 2014, don't forget to submit a Graduation Application. To submit an Application for Graduation, login to Campus Connect and select "Apply to Graduate" located under Student Links. If you wish to attend the graduation ceremony and have your name printed in the program, all applications must be submitted by March 1, 2014.

Do you plan to attend Spring 2013 Commencement Ceremony?
All Fall 2012, Spring 2013, and Summer 2013 graduates should fill out the (on-line) form to participate in the commencement ceremony. Students who will complete their degree requirements during the Summer 2013 session may participate in the commencement ceremony. For those desiring to participate in commencement, the application must be submitted by February 15, 2013 for the graduate's name to appear in the commencement program. Students will find the form at Campus Connect by clicking on "APPLY TO GRADUATE."
The commencement ceremony lasts approximately 2 hours. Graduates' names will be announced as students cross the stage to be recognized. Family and friends are welcomed to attend.
Only honor students who participate in the graduation ceremony will receive Ivy Tech honor cords. Cords are provided at rehearsal and will be available in the students robing area prior to the ceremony.
Note: Graduating with honor cords is based on your Fall 2012 GPA, regardless of when the degree requirements are met.
Notice to members of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK): YOU MAY WEAR ONLY ONE ITEM OF HONOR RECOGNITION DURING GRADUATION. You may choose to wear PTK honors cords or the PTK honors stole or Ivy Tech honor cords. You may not wear the PTK gold tassels. Please check with your PTK advisor for information regarding Phi Theta Kappa honor apparel.
Students do not need to pick up diplomas. Diplomas are mailed to students after grades are reported to the Registrar's office, and Program Chairs certify that students meet requirements for graduation.
Ordering Caps, Gowns, and Announcements
Order caps, gowns, and announcements at the Follett Bookstore at any campus location.
Caps and gowns will arrive at the Follett Bookstores in early April. Supplies are not guaranteed therefore students wanting to attend the ceremony will need to make purchases as soon as the items are available.
Students can use financial aid to buy caps, gowns, and commencement items.
Women should wear a dress or skirt outfit and low-heeled, dark shoes. Men should wear slacks, shirt, tie, and dark shoes. Please iron or steam your robe before arriving for the ceremony.
Students who have special needs (such as wheelchairs) should contact Student Affairs by Friday, April 1, 2013. At the ceremony, ushers will be available to help family members with special needs.

Graduation day is fast approaching. The following list of FAQs and answers will help you prepare for your day.
When and where will the commencement ceremony be held?
Graduation will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, at Ivy Tech’s main Kokomo campus location (1815 E. Morgan St.).
What if it rains or storms on graduation day?
In the event of inclement weather, please check the Ivy Tech Kokomo Region Website, www.ivytech.edu/kokomo, for details about a contingency plan. A decision will be made and posted to the website no later than 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 8.
As a graduate, what else do I need to know?
To make your special day as enjoyable and stress-free as possible:
On the day of the ceremony, graduates will be lined up in the order in which your name will be read. To do so, all graduates should go to their school’s assigned dressing room in the main building. Your school dean will provide further instructions once all graduates are gathered.

When should guests plan to arrive?
Guests should arrive no later than 9:30 a.m. All seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Where should I get my Phi Theta Kappa stole?
Phi Theta Kappa stoles must be purchased and picked up prior to the graduation ceremony from the campus bookstore.
I think I will graduate with honors. How will I know for sure and will I be recognized during the ceremony for this achievement with honor cords?
For students graduating with honors, you will be notified by the registrar’s office and will be eligible to wear honor cords during the ceremony. Honor cords must be picked up prior to the graduation ceremony from the campus bookstore.
I would like a photo to remember my special day. May my family members take photos during the ceremony or will there be professional photos taken?
To avoid disrupting the ceremony and distracting other guests and graduates, family members are welcome to take photos but must remain seated during the ceremony. Professional photographs will be taken during the ceremony and personal pictures of the graduates with family and friends can be taken on the stage immediately following the ceremony.
As you receive your diploma cover from the chancellor during the ceremony, your photo will be taken by Harmon Photography. Proofs will be available at www.bharmonphoto.com. Pricing is below but is subject to change:
Will there be a nursing and surgical technology graduate pinning ceremony?
December 2013, May 2014 and July 2014 graduates can participate in the pinning ceremony held 30 minutes after graduation in the Kokomo Event and Conference Center, 1500 North Reed Road (U.S. 931). Families are invited. Professional dress is required. Pins are available for purchase in the bookstore and must be brought to the ceremony. Those who do not attend graduation will not be allowed to participate in the pinning ceremony. Ivy Tech's 2014 graduation ceremony has been set for

Honors recognition at the commencement ceremony is based on the student's cumulative GPA from the Fall semester. Actual honors recognition will be recorded on the student's academic transcript posted with the degree earned.

Cum Laude 3.500 - 3.749
Ceremonial cap and gown, invitations, etc., can be purchased at the college bookstore.

Commencement will be held Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Ford Center. The ceremony begins at 7 p.m., but graduates MUST report to the Ford Center by 6 p.m. Please remember to wear comfortable, but appropriate, shoes (no flip flops please) because we’ll be standing prior to beginning the ceremony.

Students receiving academic honors will be notified 2 weeks prior to the ceremony to pick up their honors cord in the Registrar’s Office. Academic honors for the ceremony are awarded to students earning an overall gpa of 3.5 or higher at the end of the fall 2013 semester.
