As a continuing student, a program advisor will work with you starting your second semester on to graduation. You are encouraged to make contact early and maintain regular contact with your program advisor.
Who is my advisor?
- Program Declared Students: If you have decided on a program, you will meet with a program advisor for advising after your first semester. Contact your School of study. (link to Academics)
- Undecided Students: If you are still deciding what to major in, you will continue to meet with a SSAS advisor.
- Transfer students: If you are taking courses only and plan to transfer on to another college, you will continue to meet with a SSAS advisor.
Why should I meet with my program advisor?
Program advisors will help you:
- Understand degree requirements
- Get answers to questions about your program
- Develop your academic plan
- To select classes and register for them in the right order
- Drop/add or change classes
- Gather information about careers in your field
- Understand program policies, procedures, and prerequisites
- Monitor progress toward your degree
- Verify graduation requirements
When should I meet with my program advisor?
Plan to see your advisor within the first two months of the current semester. Use these guidelines:
- During the Fall semester - call for appointment in September or October
- During the Spring semester - call for appointment in March
- During the Summer semester - call for appointment in June or July
