The Health Aide Division programs include the Certified Nursing Aide course, the Restorative Nurse Aide course, the Qualified Medication Aide course, a Dementia program for Certified Nurse Aides and an American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/AED course. These courses train individuals in the skills necessary to assist in the daily care, comfort, safety, and health needs of a resident in an extended care facility, hospital or home health environment. These certifications often serve as a first step into the world of healthcare careers.

This is a 5.0 credit hour course with 48 hours of lecture, 32 hours of lab and 48 hours of clinical. The full time course can be completed in 4 weeks. The first week consists of 40 hours of lecture. The lab and clinical are divided between the second and third weeks. The fourth week includes the review and the state exam. This course is also offered on a part time basis which involves approximately 20 hours per week for 8 weeks.
Prerequisites for CNA program:
Intro to Dementia — 0.5 credit hours
This course provides students with a brief overview and knowledge the Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. This course meets the required Dementia/Alzheimer’s training for most long term care facilities. The curriculum aids the student caring for a Dementia patient on aspects of communication, behavior, personal care, and family partnerships.

Qualified Medication Aide Program (QMA) —
5 credit hours
The role of the Qualified Medication Aide is to prepare, administer, and document medications that are administered in a long-term care facility and to perform other treatments as outlined within their Scope of Practice by the Indiana State Board of Health. This course includes 60 hours of class in the area of pharmacology. Following the classroom hours, students must complete 40 hours of clinical with a licensed nurse in a long-term facility. Following the completion of the clinical hours, students are eligible to sit for the QMA exam as offered by the Indiana State Board of Health.

Restorative Nursing Assistant (RNA) Program —
3.5 credit hours
The role of the RNA is to assist in the rehabilitation and therapy of residents in a long-term facility to reach their optimal level of ability given their physical, emotional, and spiritual condition. The course includes 40 hours of classroom and 40 hours of clinical in a long-term facility. A certificate of completion is awarded at upon completion of the program requirements.
