Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is an official center for the administration of the General Education Development test, developed by the American Council on Education. The GED is equivalent to a high school diploma

The GED test at Ivy Tech Community College is given once a month. Please check the schedule below.
Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne campus also offers the Official Practice Test. There is a $10.00 fee for Practice Test. Please call 480-2012 to schedule
Registration Information
To be eligible for testing in the state of Indiana the applicant must be:
- 17 years of age
- Reside in Indiana for at least 30 days prior to the test date
- Not be a High School graduate or currently enrolled in High School
To register for the exam the applicant must come to Ivy Tech Community College, room 1738, by the Friday before the test date to present ID's and fill out paperwork. Plan to spend about 30-45 minutes for the registration process.
The best times to come are between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
When applicants come to register they need to bring with them the following:
- Indiana drivers license or Indiana State ID (Address must be current and correct)
- One ID or document with a Social Security number printed on it. For example: a Social Security Card, bank statement, bill or a pay stub.
- A third ID such as a car registration, military ID, marriage license, birth certificate, or library card
- $60.00 (the cost of the test)
If you are 17 years old you also need to bring with you:
- High School exit interview with the Principal's signature
- Passing scores on the Official GED Practice Test (Official Practice Test is available at the Anthis Career Center 260-467-1060)

GED Retests
To retest one section - come to Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne Room 1738 by the Tuesday before the retest date listed below. (If you need to take more than one retest please follow the full test schedule)
When applicants come to register they need to bring with them the following:

- $12.00 for each test you wish to retake

The five test areas are:
- Language Arts, Writing - 50 questions
Part I: Multiple Choice (75 min.)
Part II: Essay (45 min.)
- Mathematics
Part I: Use the calculator provided (45 min.)
Part II: No calculator permitted

Topics: Number, Number Sense, & Operations - 25%
Geometry and measurement - 25%
Algebra - 25%
Data, Statistics and Probability - 25%
- Social Studies - 50 questions (1 hour 10 min)
- Science - 50 questions (1 hour 20 min)
- Language Arts, Reading - 40 questions (1 hour 5 min)
