Students and Employees at Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast
Join Forces to Beautify North Campus
The students and staff at Ivy Tech Community College – Northeast are joining forces on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 to beautify the North Campus. Harshman Hallapalooza, as it is being called, is a volunteer paint and work day that will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Volunteers will be painting two floors of Harshman Hall, a classroom and office building for the College. Other projects include, revamping an elevated patio area, landscaping the grounds outside Harhsman Hall and the new Student Life Center, as well as repainting and refurbishing outside patio furniture -- and much more.
“This project started out as an idea to spread our beautification dollars further with a small volunteer initiative,” said Angela Hudson, assistant director of communications and marketing. “The number of volunteers who responded has been so tremendous that we have had to broaden the project’s scope. It’s exciting that such a large number of Ivy Tech employees and students are willing to help. It truly speaks to the character of the folks who work and attend school here.”
Dr. Russell D. Baker, Ed.D., interim chancellor for Ivy Tech Community College – Northeast, said, “I see this volunteer day as an opportunity to further stretch our funds and a chance for students and employees to build relationships outside of the classroom or office. It’s a win-win all the way around.”
Volunteers will each receive a work-day t-shirt, a free lunch, and refreshments throughout the day. For more information about the day, contact Angela Hudson at 260-480-4144.
