Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast Will Offer
“Job Search in a Tough Economy” Workshop
On Thursday, April 9, 2009, Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast will provide a free workshop entitled “Job Search in a Tough Economy.” Presented by Sheila Biggs, assistant director of career advising at Ivy Tech, the session will focus on different areas of interest for job-seekers such as:
“Now more than ever individuals are looking for jobs, making it imperative that an applicant cover all the bases when it comes to marketing themselves as the most qualified person for the job,” said Biggs. “It is just like everything else, when things get tight you have to get back to the basics and be more on target than you are in less competitive times.”
The workshop is one in a series of nine Career Development Workshops offered through Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast’s Career Services office. The workshops are free sessions open to students, alumni, and friends of Ivy Tech. Participants receive a free portfolio after successfully completing five different workshops in a 12-month period. The session on April 9 will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Ivy Tech’s Coliseum Campus auditorium. An evening session will also be offered on Thursday, May 7 from 5 to 6 p.m. Registration is requested for an accurate count on deliverables at the workshop.
